As keen fans and season ticket holders for the MK Dons, Smith Construction Group Ltd were the proud match ball sponsors for the Johnsons Paint Trophy Semi-final versus Swansea on 25/02/08. A decisive match, success went to the MK Dons during a tense penalty finale.

As a result, the MK Dons went on to play and defeat Grimsby Town 2-0, at the new Wembley Stadium.

One of our longest serving employees, Mrs Jill Bunyan retires at the end of May 2008.

A caring and loyal member of our Head Office team, Jill’s position was in no way limited to her official role of Accounts Administrator. Over a period of 16 years with Smith Construction she has been a ‘surrogate mum’ to many of our young employees, who have benefited from her wisdom and plain-speaking advice.

Her knowledge and skills have expanded with the company and she will be sorely missed, as will her cheery laugh and sunny disposition.

The efforts of our Small Works Division were recently recognised, in conjunction with ‘Streetcare’ (Milton Keynes Borough Council) upon receipt of an award for our ‘outstanding contribution for flood defence work in 2007’.  Administered by Milton Keynes Council Forum, it was received ‘in recognition of joint efforts to ensure peoples homes and businesses were protected during the floods of 2007’ in the local villages.
