Smith Construction Group Ltd (formerly Ian Smith Construction Ltd). In 2000, Ian Smith Construction Ltd was awarded the 2000-2002 Commission For The New Towns ‘Schedule of Rates Contract’ for South and Central regions. In response to this and working with English Partnerships we formed our Small Works Team and have secured this contract ever since.

We are now currently tendering for the 2008-2011 contract and aim to continue our relationship with English Partnerships and Pell Frischmann, the consultant engineers.

Due to expansion we secured the Streetcare (Milton Keynes Borough Council) ‘Highway Small Works Contract’ 2006 – 2009 schedule of rates for which we provide a ‘rapid response’ service acting upon emergencies within 24 hours for incidents such as flooding, or urgent repairs. The team works to bring roads up to adopted standards which includes kerbing, tarmacing, reconstruction of footpaths and bus stops among a varied list of jobs.

Our success in this field was recently recognised when SMITH Construction Group Ltd-Small Works Division, in conjunction with Streetcare (Milton Keynes Borough Council), received an award from Milton Keynes Council Forum for ‘Outstanding contribution for flood defence work in 2007’. This was recognition for joint efforts to ensure peoples’ homes and businesses were protected during the floods of 2007.in the local village of Olney, Bucks

Stoke Goldington, Bucks, was severely flooded in 2007 and to help prevent this happening again, work was carried out to clear major ditches in the village and also to construct a new drainage system ensuring effective distribution of flood waters.
